Finally, the government has decided to extend the due date for filing the GSTR 1 for the month of July to 10th October 2017 from already extended due date of 10th September 2017. This has been done because taxpayers were facing a lot of issues in filing the GSTR 1 on the technical side of GSTN website.
In other words, the last date for filing the GSTR 1 for the July month is 10th October till now.
As per the recent feedbacks received from various stakeholders, the GSTN website is not working properly and due to this taxpayers were not able to file their GSTR 1 for the July.
Only 17 Lakh returns filed
As per the recent data released by the government, only 17 lakh GSTR 1 has been filed till now and still lakh of returns are required to be filed. This less number may be due to on account of technical problems in the GSTN working. Further, government has also setup a inter-ministerial panel of three ministers to look into the practical issues faced by the taxpayers.
Government not prepared?
As per the feedback from the industry, a lot of people are claiming that government infrastructure wasn’t tested properly and therefore they have just implemented without any proper testing and planning.
