How to Know your Service Tax Number? What if I don’t remember my Service tax number, nor I have my registration certificate?
Introduction
Service tax Number can be easily derived from the PAN card of the assessee. The mandatory thing you should have is the PAN card of the assessee, through which you can derive the Service tax number easily. The process of fetching the service tax number is as follows:
- Mandatory Documents: If you want to derive the Service tax number and after that, you want to know the status of registration, then the primary thing you must have is the pan card.
What if we don’t have the PAN number of the assessee? How to know the PAN Number of the assessee?
You don’t have the PAN card? Don’t worry; there is another way of getting the PAN number.

- After collecting the primary documents i.e. PAN card,
visit the following link: Visit Link
And the assessee code column, write assessee code in the following manner:
- Write the complete PAN number, like ABCDR1234F,
- Extend PAN number further, by adding SD or ST, and complete the same by adding 001. It will look like ABCDR1234FSD001 or ABCDR1234ST001.
Why we have written 001 in the end?
001 in the end defines that this PAN is registered once. Service tax law offers single and multiple registrations. Now suppose, you have multiple registrations with the same PAN, then the further registration number will be issued in the following manner:
REGISTRATION OF FACTORY |
REGISTRATION NUMBER |
Factory 1 |
ABCDR1234FSD001 OR ABCDR1234FST001 |
Factory 2 |
ABCDR1234FSD002 OR ABCDR1234FST002 |
Factory 3 |
ABCDR1234FSD003 OR ABCDR1234FST003 |
Hence, you can write the number one by one in the end and verify all the registration with the associated PAN.
- After filling all the details, under the assessee code as mentioned in point no.2, if the service tax registration is there with the associated PAN, then the details will come up and that assessee code is actually your Service Tax number.
Hence, once the assessee code is confirmed, then it means that you have verified the Service tax number and this is your ST number.
