The government has come up with a Diwali bonanza for various categories of taxpayer in the country especially the small service provider which includes bloggers, content writer, app and web developers, freelancers etc.
The government on 6th October has decided to exempt the service providers from GST registration up to the turnover of Rs.20 lakh even if they are providing the interstate services. This brings huge relief to all the service providers including bloggers who are not familiar with the legal things.
Earlier, the GST registration was mandatory for every person including bloggers if they are providing services outside the state irrespective of the turnover. Due to this law, many of the small services providers including students became liable for GST registration. Hence, to remove the hardship over the service providers, the government extended the benefit of 20 lakh limit for across India.
Other reliefs provided by the government
Some other relief has also been extended by the government to the small service providers which are as follows:
- The benefit of composition scheme extended from 75 lakh turnover to 1 crore turnover.
- The GST return filing has also been made on quarterly basis than on monthly basis for taxpayers whose turnover is up to Rs.1.5 crore.
- The reverse charge mechanism has been deferred till 31st March 2018.
